July 24th, 2009 Life is an Adventure in Living.
Life is filled with a continuous series of changes and adventures that can either send you spinning or call you to jump in and make something out of the shifts and all the letting go demanded. I have found that as a child from an orphanage and the housing projects of Boston who later became a Catholic nun, an international airline stewardess, a wife, mother, psychotherapist, healer, graduate faculty member, Clinical Instuctor at a medical school, international author, speaker, and healer, it never gets boring although it can be exhausting when I do not listen to what my soul is telling me through my emotions and my body.
Learning to follow your truth, even if in terror or fear, can be liberating and provide a real sense of freedom and honesty, knowing you are doing what you are called to do. It is the not-knowing what that is – what you are called to do next -that can make life so difficult. Don’t you just wish some days that someone could just tell you what your next move is? What would most help support you in becoming everything you were meant to be? Instead, fortunately or unfortunately, it is left up to us to make those decisions. That requires us to spend the time in reflection, in looking inward and assessing what we can do next and what price we are willing to pay. It is clearly an adventure in coming alive and in jumping in to all that we are – a life of discovery – an adventure in the unfolding. THAT is the answer to “what is this all about?”! Life is an adventure in living and unfolding. Now we just need to live it, and with laughter, joy, adventure and a sense of nautiness as well as truth. Go for it! Life your life as an adventure making sure you are living it and not surviving it; it makes it that much more real and that much more yours. It is so worth it!
